
Lise Sedrez is Assistant Professor at the History Department at California University, Long Beach. She holds a M.S. in Environmental Policy Studies, from New Jersey Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in History from Stanford University, where she was awarded a Lieberman Fellowship for excellence in teaching. She also taught at Ramapo College, New Jersey, The College of William & Mary, in Williamsburg, Virginia, and Faculdade da Cidade, in Rio de Janeiro. Lise has published in Italy, Colombia, Brazil and USA. Her research interests include environmental history of Latin America, urban history, history of science and history of Brazil. She is currently writing a book on the enviromental history of Guanabara Bay, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the twentieth century. Lise worked for environmental non-profit organizations in Brazil, such as Greenpeace, IBASE and WWF- and she still keeps up-to-date with her environmental activism.
Lise loves fencing and is a great cook—she has an award-winning tiramisu recipe. When she is not obsessively surfing the Internet, she enjoys trekking, dancing and traveling.
LISE SEDREZ possui graduação em História do Brasil pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1991), mestrado em Estudos de Políticas Ambientais pelo New Jersey Institute of Technology (1998), mestrado e doutorado em História da América Latina pela Stanford University (2004). Atualmente é professora assistente na California State University, Long Beach. Tem experiência na área de História da América, com ênfase em História Ambiental e História Urbana, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: amazônia, ambientalismo, clientelismo, organizações não-governamentais e Baía de Guanabara.
