Time flies. Really. The great news since my last update is that I have finally finished the dissertation! From January 6 2005, I will be Dr. Sedrez. Check out the acknowledgment page...
Yes, sometimes I can’t believe it either.
But let’s go to the news, since the last time I updated this webpage:
Our experience with the California community was wonderful, but, after two years, it is finally over. Thank you, Maurizio and Anna. We are still together, across an ocean.
Roberto and I have moved to Colonial Williamsburg, where I am teaching at the History Department of the College of William and Mary, until May 2005. Who knows what will happen after that, but I am enjoying the lovely place, and very friendly colleagues. Oh, and the Green Leaves, my “point” for Friday evenings...
Personal webpages are no longer a novelty, and they now serve to more specific purposes. It is not enough to say “Hey, I am also here in the cyberspace”. They are no longer only sophisticate vehicles for overgrown egos (well, maybe a bit). They are rather anchors.
At least for me. I have moved so often in the last four years that this URL is my most reliable address. And I still want a small corner in the cyberspace, solid enough to show my work, and friendly enough to welcome friends across the globe.
So, there you have, under the same 2001 décor, but with new text, Lise’s web page. See my resumé. Good bookmarks on environmental history, NGOs, and daily newspapers. Check out my Online Bibliography on Environmental History, with more than 20,000 hits. Good links about my current research object (and eternal passion), the Guanabara Bay. Don’t miss my comments on a coast-to-coast photojourney across the US. Lots of pictures of family and friends. Travels. My world famous recipes for Tiramisu and Pesto. And, hopefully, fun.
Please step in.
Lise Sedrez
